Shadow dark as night

In places yet devoid of light

Hides in corners, cold and slight

Devour you in an instant.

Dark creatures without souls

shadows they will eat you whole

they never tire, never sleep

waiting for you always

When you step out of the light

and enter into cold dark night

the shadow looms to take a bite

out of your warm bright soul

If the shadow gets to you

devours you in one big chew

be careful, for all to soon

the shadow becomes solid

for if the shadow takes your soul

if the darkness becomes full

its cold dark self will become whole

tangible and real

solid shadows one day free

will come out, for you and me
